MT6577 has GPS on the chip ? - pax - 2013-10-15 My phone is gt-n7102 clone : Hardware : MT6577 (SMDK4x12 is Fake!) Model : GT-N7102 Build number : JRO03C.N7102ZSALJ2 Build date UTC : 20130306-111329 Android v : 4.1.9 Baseband v: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V5, 2013/01/28 11:29 Kernel v : 3.0.13 (kingberry@kingberry-desktop) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Wed Mar 6 19:10:15 CST 2013 Uboot build v : MAIN2.2.ubt.3877 LCD Driver IC : 1-otm8009a_6575_dsi When I try to power on the GPS the icon in notification bar appears, but no gps satellite is found. I know the problem for MTK 6577 chipset and try a lot of configuration, apps and tricks about it, but with no result (no satellites). So I gave a look in YGPS of Mobileuncle tools Engineer mode and found : chip version and MNL version = unknown. Does it mean that hardware is not recognized and/or present ? How could I investigate to understand if my phone has GPS chip on board ? (is not integrated in 6577 chip ?) On the board I found GPS indication but don't understand more... Could be a driver (kernel) problem ? Thanks in advance for your support. RE: MT6577 has GPS on the chip ? - GizBeat - 2013-10-16 Yes, MTK6577 usually has GPS. If the indicator is blinking and you're able to turn on GPS, that should mean you've got GPS hardware. It could be a firmware issue, or possibly the antenna. Have you tried the RE: MT6577 has GPS on the chip ? - pax - 2013-10-16 RE: MT6577 has GPS on the chip ? - GizBeat - 2013-10-16 It's possible. Take a look at this thread. You can try surgery. RE: MT6577 has GPS on the chip ? - pax - 2013-10-16 RE: MT6577 has GPS on the chip ? - pax - 2013-10-22 I tried 2 tipes of antenna, a wire and a copper stripe soldered to the GPS pins of the board. I tried a very detailed gps.conf and Nokia supl servers (are google supl servers up ? ) but unfortunately I cannot solve my problem I think that my faked firmware could be a problem... Could it be a kernel or driver problem ? How could I investigate about it ? One more question : to find the "right" ROM what compatibility can I assure (Baseband,Kernel version,Uboot build or LCD Driver IC ) ? Thanks all ! (3 pins) try to make sure u have a good contact for the GPS/WIFI , the picture of yours, there is 2 pin on the left top corner, so make sure u have a good contact to the antenna ( anttena is some sort like a plastic patch(actually is a copper) at the top left hand corner, usually, u can see the wording GPS/WIFI written on it) I have been disassembled my inew6000 for few times, the last time i had a difficult time to get a GPS locked, then i disassembled again, n make sure the contact is intact. then i get GPS locked in my house about 45 sec. If the antenna is shared, I can find connections between pins with a tester. I'll test it ! I saw the connector and the stripes antennas under the cover, the contact seems good. Wifi is ok, the problem is only GPS. I'll try to verify the contacts again. Why in Mobileuncle tools - Engineer mode - YGPS I can find : chip version and MNL version = unknown ? Hardware problem ? I do not think to the information of this chinese faked firmware, I found on it everything (non-existing ram, model, logo, etc. ) Thanks again all ! RE: MT6577 has GPS on the chip ? - pax - 2013-11-04 In my case the antenna isn't shared, the hot pin isn't connected together for the gps and wifi. I tried soldering wire, copper stripe tothe gps pins but without results I am continue to think that could be Hardware problem (Mobileuncle tools - Engineer mode - YGPS I can find : chip version and MNL version = unknown) My last change is to try with another ROM...
