What phone do I have? - Wolve - 2016-09-29 Hi, my dad got screwed by a guy selling cloned Samsung Galaxy S7. After trying to flash a recovery on it I realised, that it is a chinaphone clone. Since it is not possible to give this phone back, because this guy was a stranger at a flea market, I am trying to get a custom rom on it, that is not overfilled with crap (like the one installed). The problem is, that I can't identify the phone. Here are some informations, that I got to find out: - MT6589 FAKED (actually it is just a MT6572 2 Core and one of the cores gets offline) - 1,89GB RAM - 1.39GB Space (32GB faked) - 2MP Front Cam, 5MP Back Cam - Android 6.0.1 (Android SDK 4.2) - MALI GPU (But that could be faked, too) Phone Checker told me: ALPS SM-G930FD Atututu Benchmark told me: 3D unsupported and the score was at 9300 (which is pretty low) From the outside it does look like a real Samsung S7 white. Since the installed ROM sucks extremely, because the system gets into bootloop, if I restart the phone, I would like to install a ROM with actual 4.2 Android and without all the GUI changes. Just a clean ROM with no extras, so I can use the phone in a normal way. So please help me to identify the real name of this clone and maybe help me with installing TWRP or CWM, so I could install a clean 4.2 ROM on it. Greets, Wolve RE: What phone do I have? - Wolve - 2016-10-01 Since noone answered to my post, I think I should add some more informations. Thanks to the FAQ I found out, that it is helpful to write something about the filesystem. Filesystem: /data ext4 /cache ext4 /system ext4 There are also two folders, that made me curious: /protect_s ext4 /protect_f ext4 They seemed to be protected. Thanks to the Terminal I found out (with free -M), that the phone only has 478 MB RAM, which is pretty low. I found a tool (Spec Device)on Play Store, that identified the phone as a ALPS SM-G930FD. But there are some modifications on this phone that make me disbelieve the informations given: Android: 6.0.1, eng.soft01.1465021846, SDK17 (I found other users posting this: ) My display is show as 854x480 DPI: 240, which differs too. The CPU seems to be different.too: Mine is shown as 4 cores, ARMv7, Max:1600MHz, Min:160MHz My phone shows me the accelerometer: KXT J2-1009 from Kionix And I got the WIFI information: wlan_mt6582, but I am not sure, if they are right. Maybe someone can work with that informations. I just want to find a Clean ROM with Android 4.4.4, that is only using Google Play store from Google and nothing else. Hopefully someone can tell me how to get the ROM on this device. PLEASE! EDIT: Some further informations: CPU identifier told me, that the CPU is not 6589 ot 6577, because the GPU doesn't match with them. Nearly all applications, I tried out, tell me, that the GPU is a Mali-400. MTK Droid Tools tells me, that the CPU is a 6572 (FAKED 6589). If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it. RE: What phone do I have? - IMgroot - 2016-10-01 There are literally hundreds of models of these Samsung fakes. You can try some ROM from clones on needrom.com and you might get lucky. You could also try to root and remove stuff you think is malware etc. That might brick the phone if you remove the wrong app. So maybe make a backup of your ROM first. My advice? Life is too short to mess with it. Theyre worth about $30 each, if that. Maybe $20. Just use them as they are or toss em or give em away etc. RE: What phone do I have? - Twotems - 2016-10-02 Cut your losses and dump it. There are too many good phones under $100 to bother stressing yourself. |
