VPN strange error - stevejc - 2016-04-26

Hi,

I am with 2.3 multilanguage rom (last one from innos).

I have tried VPN function, with VPN function in Android and with Zenmate application.

It's working well.

But one time, I have used the shortcut that you find at the end of notification page ("Network may be monitored").

If you click on that, with Zenmate, you have the "DISABLE VPN" function.
I have done that, and can't use anymore ZenMate.

I have found that then ZenMate will lost "Activate VPN" permission.
I can reset it with AppOppsXposed module, but it was hard to find.

With android VPN, you have the 'Disconnect VPN' function.

But, when I use one time the "DISABLE VPN" function, even if android VPN and now ZenMate are working good, I have lost a function : there is no more the alert dialog box when you launch a VPN. this box is the system app VpnDialogs.

There is also a crash in this app when it is launched.

And when you have launched an android VPN you can't stop it in the settings, normaly VpnDialog application does it.

The only solution is to use the shortcut "Network may be monitored".

I have restored my phone, and the dialog box is here now but after the same test has disappeared !

If someone has a idea to restored it without restoring phone, thanks a lot !

Maybe Vpndialogs losts also "Activate VPN" permission too but can't find how to restore it.

Find it !

In fact, it due to a xposed module that I'm using to go in immersive mode.

After several reset, I find the culprit.

But also find this thread in XDA : [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] that says the same thing.

Nice. Glad you found the problem. At first I was disappointed there's no option in settings to hide the virtual keys.

Then after using it for awhile I totally forgot about it and don't miss being able to hide then anymore.

Usually any app that you want immersive mode, if it's programmed correctly, it will hide them for you.

Yes indeed

I'm using also the app : all in one gestures : with this one I have now a small icon on the lower left corner that put any app on full screen when I want ;)

Hi ! I am on android 5.1.1 - v2.5 ENG.

I am having a problem connecting to a VPN, I have used many apps, like OpenVPN, Cloud VPN and of course the one mentioned here Zenmate, but to no avail.

So I tried something I read on the net which didnt work, it basically consisted in replacing a file called LINKER in the root directory system/bin. I though that would tweak my phone and let me use VPN apps but it didnt work. So I want to go back now to the original file (unfortunately I didnt make a backup)

My request is : Can someone upload this file to a cloud service so I can download it ? It should be from a Innos D6000 android 5.1.1 v2.5 (at least) Thanks !

Here it is : [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
(it's for V2.7 to 3.3) same file

I have this on my V2.3 : [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
=> VPN is working good with last 2.3 multilanguage

There are two files linker and linker64
linker is the same on all version

As I say in specific 6.0.1 thread, I have found the problem with VPN that is not working in 6.0.1 ROM.

It's due to the settings to Hide NavigationBar !!!!

When it's on, you see the button to hide navigation bar, but then there is a crash when you use VPN, in the VPNdialog apk an alert box normally is showed to tell you that VPN will be on but it crashed and then the Activate VPN permission is not set so you can not use VPN ! It's the same problem that I have had here with a xposed module.

So you can use VPN without be rooted ;)

Before launching VPN, the option (Settings/ Display / Hide NavigationBar) must be unset. but you can set it afterwards.

If you are rooted and use gravity box module, do not set the settings Hide NavigationBar, but use the gravity box function to do the same (define an action to enable Expanded desktop mode : Immersive navigation bar or Immersive).
