Redmi Note 3 Pro Experience so far - Twotems - 2016-04-09 I've been using the rn3p for two days and I'm truly ambivalent about it. It's an excellent phone with superb battery life but I think I've been spoiled by my Zenfone 2. I've had the Zenfone for a year so I'm used to it and learning a new phone isn't easy. Having said that, I've had the THL 4000, 5000 and Blackview BV5000 in the meantime and they haven't been as hard to navigate as this one. Here are my pros and cons so far: PROS: -Truly excellent battery life - Excellent screen brightness outdoors - Very good rom features and options - Good fingerprint scanner but it's my first so can't really compare (see below) - Very good ram usage CONS: - No native alphabetical app sorting. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Why? - Sim recognition is touch and go (see other thread) - It's hung on me a couple of times already. Not reboot type hanging but I think my Zenfone has only hung on me three times in 12 months. - Fingerprint scanner doesn't seem to work when phone enters deep, deep sleep. I'll add more later as I remember them and use it more. RE: Redmi Note 3 Pro Experience so far - MegaManX - 2016-04-10 I agree regarding MIUI. You get used to it after awhile, but vanilla Android is my preference. Seems MIUI does things different just to be different, not any logical reason, for example pulling down notifications need to swipe left to get to quick tiles. Two-finger pulldown doesn't work, and there's no way to expand a notification for more info, example Gmail notification to see who the emails are from. Why? Why? You can add a 3rd party app drawer easily, or use Nova or Apex. I have no idea how people get by without an app drawer. I'm not a fan of pure Android and like the features of miui but dislike the lack of infinite scrolling and inability to sort alphabetically. I installed Zenui launcher because it allows notification count which you have to pay for with Nova and probably Apex. I'm also used to it. I'm not that bothered by the lack of an app drawer but without infinite scrolling and alphabetical sorting it's infuriating. Xiaomi's obsession to mimic Crapple in everything has always annoyed me because they make good phones at reasonable prices. This one looks just enough unlike an iPhone that I finally took the plunge and I'm generally very satisfied. P.S. Another annoying thing is having to use that damn sim ejector tool. I've always hated that setup. The sim recognition issue still persists but my workaround sorts it out. |
