JasonC's MTK 64-Bit root method for MT6735p, etc. [probably all mediatek 64-bit...] - JasonC - 2015-12-18 Hey chinaphonearena, I know I'm a bit new here, this is my first post, but please go easy on me. Recently I purchased a Goophone i6s with a MTK6592, but instead I received a i6s Plus with a stupid unrootable MTK6735 on Android 5. I've scoured the internet for any information on my device and all I've found are:
Anyway, I basically got fed up with not having root on my ROM/for the CPU and devised a method that should work for all MTK 64-Bit phones (MT67xx) with a "system.img" in the firmware/ROM. You can probably use my method if you:
* I don't have time to care if you screw up your phone by not following my instructions correctly, that's on you, not me, sorry. 1. Alright so the first thing you're going to need to do is have the firmware that you want rooted already installed on your phone, this will have required you to use SP Flash Tools so you probably know where your scatter file is. 2. Locate the scatter file for your device [it should look like "MT6735M_Android_scatter.txt" but with your CPU in there if it's different] 3. Open that badboy up in notepad or whatever l33th4x0r editor you use and find "system.img" in it 4. If it says "type: EXT4_IMG" then we're all good to go, if not, maybe stop right now before you wreck something 5. Closely after that you should find "physical_start_addr: 0xb000000 partition_size: 0x77000000". Your hex values might be different than mine, but that's alright 6. Open up SP Flash Tool and load the scatter file from your current ROM into it 7. Go to the read-back tab and press the add button 8. Double click the new entry and choose where your want to back up your current system file to, name it "whatever_you_want_so_you_know_what_it_is.ext4", the only important part is the .ext4 9. Change the start address to your "physical_start_addr" value, from the scatter, and change the length to whatever your "partition_size" value is and then press ok. 10. Press the readback button 11. Do whatever you had to do right before your flashed the ROM on there that let it load (for me i had to press the reset button hidden in a fake microphone...) (you probably just have to remove your battery and put it back if you don't have a hidden reset button somewhere ) 12. It should start doing the read-back let it do its thing 13. holy heck i am so tired and i have an exam in 7 hours, ill probably finish writing this tomorrow, sorry peeps, ill also put a list of softwar you need to download, but this is all for now, get your ROM and ext4 all ready if you haven't and I'll cya tomorrow! ~JasonC JasonC's MTK 64-Bit root method for MT6735p, etc. [probably all mediatek 64-bit...] - muriddhu - 2015-12-31 I bought a cubot x17 but it's not arrived yet. I'm curious to know the end of the "story". Can you continue please? |
