Things I've found that help (or give a satisfying placebo effect):
- terminate all running apps in the background
- remove apps from background standby list
- click one click memory cleanup
- turn off wifi, data and screen auto rotate (?)
- remove SIM card and TF card from phone
- fill up battery to 100% for maximum voltage
- remove the charger from the phone (this can get your CPU stuck at lower Mhz!)

untried:
- insert high quality, high speed TF card

Anyone else got tips?

Is there a way to keep background processes from restarting while you are running the benchmark?

it's mainly to be able to ask people which optimization methods they have and haven't used, so I can get a better appraisal of what relevant conditions the test occurred under.

but bragging rights are cool too.
