RE: Get your MTK6589 GPS Working - Method B - HappyUser - 2014-01-23 I got tired out with this EPO crap, and never got it to work. It just keep saying "EPO download error", tried all the guides nothing works... It's weired, because it used to work, and then out of the blue it doesn't... So maybe the problem lies in the ROM's... RE: Get your MTK6589 GPS Working - Method B - januark - 2014-02-01 HI, why is my engineer mode "location based service" disabled? I already turn on location services Mine is Jiayu G5 2/32 with MIUI V5 RE: Get your MTK6589 GPS Working - Method B - amillsmcewn - 2014-02-12 Hi My question is: Having made these changes, does your phone keep a fix on your position when using Google Navigation in a car? Most of the fixes on this forum help to get an initial position lock. My problem is not that. The initial lock is fine. My iNew V3 loses the lock about 25 - 50 % of the time while driving, whereas other phones can easily maintain the position lock and thus keep Google Navigation contantly updated with the car's position. My iNew V3 can't the blue arrow in Google Navigation stands still for miinutes at a time, while I am driving. It worked on MTK 6582 Samsung S5. thanks a lot RE: Get your MTK6589 GPS Working - Method B - oioioi - 2014-09-10 Yes, GPS in MTK phones is often not so great, but tricks like the one in the OP usually makes it work all right. If you for some reason can't do what the OP suggests, here is another (and slightly easier) way of getting your GPS sorted: You Need: 1. Rooted Phone 2. FasterGPS (from Google Play) 3. MT GPS (from Google Play) 4. Mobileuncle Tools (from Google Play) How to: 1. Run "FasterGPS", select your continent and country; exit app 2. Run "MT GPS" and let it do it's thing; exit app 3. Restart phone 4. Run Mobileuncle 5. Select: Engineer Mode > Engineer Mode (MTK) > Location > YGPS > Information 6. Tap: "hot", "full" and "AGPS restart" (in this order; wait some 30 seconds between each tap) 7. Exit Mobileuncle Your phone should now get a fix in 10-20 seconds. Cheers, Oioioi RE: Get your MTK6589 GPS Working - Method B - eben80 - 2015-01-05 I created an app that will download the EPO files from a faster, non-ftp mediatek location as well as help you by giving you a one-click fix option. So just in case it is of use to any of you: EPO Tools Free |
