RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - Twotems - 2014-09-18 Don't know why you think you can't ship by DHL from the US. Many UPS shops also do DHL. Check around. RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - johnb - 2014-09-18 Won't make much difference. They have thought of every angle. The real issue and I have ran into this before is paypal will not issue a refund if I can not prove it was delivered with signature confirmation. Easy charger with paper clips. Now my warranty is voided RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - edcoolio - 2014-09-18 (2014-09-18, 05:56)johnb Wrote: Won't make much difference. They have thought of every angle. Was waiting for this pic. Its not voided until you open the phone. But, at this stage you seem resigned to just keeping it. I would buy an extra battery and use an external charger. RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - nikstar - 2014-09-19 I want to tell you guys that the rom of the phone is responsible for the charging of the battery. Once I flushed a rom to my iNew V3. The phone was working ok but it couldn't charge the battery. When I run out of power the phone could start up. I managed to put some power at the battery and I was able to boot at recovery mode. From there the phone was charged normally. Then I just replace that rom and the phone returned to normal. All I am saying is that it could be a software problem. You have nothing to lose to try it. Charge the battery a little and then boot into recovery mode. There is no battery levee indicator there but leave it plugged in for a while and the boot normally for checking. Maybe you will be lucky... RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - johnb - 2014-09-19 Booted at recovery nada change. The real problem is I get no data connection. Not a carrier issue for sim works fine in my other phone. You can turn data on but no icon pops on. All the settings are correct. According to the phone info the seller programmed it the day it shipped and probably did not test it. I am so out of my league when it comes to customizing roms and all that. RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - nikstar - 2014-09-19 So, if your seller accept that this phone was DOA, there is no problem for you. You will get a replacement but you have to wait for it. You can open a dispute case at PayPal and keep it open until you receive your phone. You are not so lucky but we all know that a similar situation can happened, by shopping from China. Sometimes sh*t happened! PS I assume you check the APN settings. Sometimes they aren't applied automatically and also you checked the other slot, did you? RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - johnb - 2014-09-21 Seller wants me to return then they will fix it. Let paypal decide to let me return it for refund. I had a similar issue a few years back and the phone became lost in China. Paypal closed the dispute since tracking never showed delivery. The phone came back to me about 3 months later. I have had 50% success with China phones and they get better everyday. I know what I am gambling with. I did get data to work(all the apn settings were wrong) but the phone is useless not being able to charge it on the go. Have another battery coming but 25-30 days away. It gets 3.75 volts at the positive and .50 at the middle(temp)pin when charging. The charge just keeps dropping while charging. Very odd. Something is telling the battery to bleed down or could just be a bad battery. Charger puts out around 5 volts. No idea why only 3.75 gets to the battery. For sure not enough if you happen to want to use the phone. Turn the phone off and try to charge and battery discharges at the same rate until the phone shuts down, then the only way to get it to turn on is to externally charge the battery. Put one of those battery apps on and it confirms its charging and the battery status is good. For sure not enough if you happen to want to use the phone. What set up do you have here? Are you measuring the terminal voltage of the battery while it is charging through the phone? Or are you applying the 5V directly to the battery terminals? If you are charging through the phone, the regulator in the phone bucks down the 5V from the charger to somewhere around 4.2V. The battery pulls this down to its current terminal voltage according to its internal impedance. Normally, it should slowly equalize with the 4.2V bus voltage. If you are applying the 5V directly, its pretty much the same behavior. But if the charger is rated for 1A, and considering resistance from the paper clips, it will show your battery has an internal impedance of around 1.2 ohms. So it really could be a battery issue. Also, be careful if you are applying the 5V directly, your voltage is not regulated to 4.2V (max for single cell). Make sure you disconnect it as soon as it hits 4.2V. RE: Sold dead Inew V8 by scam shop - johnb - 2014-09-21 Yes I measured with the battery in the phone while being charged. 5 volts going in at the battery only 3.75. The regulator is dropping it down. I only charge the battery(externally) for a few hours at a time so as to not blow it up. |
