Phone JIAYU G4S hard bricked -- SOLVED - mfreak - 2014-07-24

Hello. Is there any procedure to follow to force my phone to factory settins or mode? Is there any button combination to achieve this. I bricked my phone when i faulty tried to flash a new ROM (4.4.2) and new recovery image. Thanks for any response

have you tried using Flashtools?

First of all thanks for the response. Yes i have allready done this. Unfortunately i tried to upgrade the firmware with a rom from JIAYU which is afterwards proved to be erroneous ROM. Anyway i tried every option ths SP tools gives and at last itried to format everything including bootstrap loader. From then on the phone is recognised in windows as "Alcatel single RNDIS interface #2" and in linux as "Mediatek MT 6227" and stuck to this point. The SP tools doesn't recognise the new situation.

can you boot into this new recovery or is it still the old recovery
or are you getting a boot loop when attempting to get into recovery?

I tell you what i did from the first time. I booted in recovery mode and i tried to install the TF 4.4.2 (erasing dalvik data etc and formatted partition) ROM along with the recovery image. Then i reboot the phone and it entered boot loop. I then tried to enter recovery mode but never worked and continued to work in boot loop. I finally used the SP flash tools with all the symptoms i described above

I am thinking this TF comes from a certain forum
can you pm me....reply here if you can't.....SEE BELOW FOR EDIT
I want a link in pm to what guides you were following
---in particular who told you to start formatting?

2) Do you know how to get into factory mode?

Try
Pull out battery and connect battery
hold vol DOWN and power button until you see first splash image
release both buttons

If that fails there may be other button methods

2b) if you can get into factory mode.....press vol down button to eMMC
press power button and wait
with luck phone restarts with default settings
----subject to finding anything on a formatted partition?

3) You did not answer to the question so I try again. Do you know how to get into recovery for your phone please?

if not.....say so and try this

battery out
connect data cable Android to PC
battery in
hold vol up and power until you see splash screen
release both buttons

if fail.....hold vol up and power for 2 or 3 seconds
release power and continue to hold vol up

4) It is possible....I have no idea how reasonable....that you have installed a custom recovery
I think not. If you have got into custom recovery say so as the method to fix will change.........you need a CWM ROM

Otherwise I assume you failed and so it may be possible to now flash the OFFICIAL rom stuff. I can not use windows so can not help directly.

Only if you have good internet download one of these zips and unpack it
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
see that ROM builder also uses flashtools so download his as well
Then try to flash.....but not sure if your device is now visible to Windows

second ROM
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
and his files as well

there is NO mention of partitioning any thing in either of those 2 ROMs so am I guessing you are alluding to another site......And that site is for developers.

sorry if I am appear grumpy....its my defining characteristic.....thats a joke!

##################

ahh sorry I wonder if TF means you were following this guide?
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

ouch what a guide
Format SD.....no mention of format....it should be fat32
format system......I think they expect you to have flashed CTR recovery
and I am pretty sure you never tested that you could get in CTR

On that basis....no need to pm me unless you did not use this guide.
And um don't try that ROM builder again as its poorly worded.

RANT STARTS How can they call it AOSP when they did not compile it?
they ported it........grrrrrr

RE: Phone JIAYU G4S hard bricked - mfreak - 2014-07-28

Yes you're right TF comes from needrom.com. But it's not the point. Then i never succeeded to enter the recovery mode. After all, i told you that , as last chance, i used the sp flash tools to format + bootstrap loader and after that the phones behaves as "Alcatel single RNDIS interface #2" and in linux as "Mediatek MT 6227". Thanks for the try and of course for me you are not grumpy at all. I presume my last chance is to make some kind of hard reset of the phone and force it to some kind of factory settings as in a few MT6589 models, considering that is my only chance to bring it back. Right now every combination of pushing buttons so far has no effect. The display keeps remaining absolute black and i see some "breaths" only via the usb cable and the host pc either on windows or linux. I know that the main partitions are formatted (i admitted that previously) so i don't expect to see any logos or stuff coming out at the display. Unfortunately my big mistake is pointed on the first time. I tried to pass the TF ROM (regardless to say that if a e.g. official ROM was in this case) immediately afterwards (without rebooting the phone) i tried to install (from recovery mode) the recovery image coming with the TF 4.4.2 which afterwards proved to be not working. So then pressing Vol up + power does not enter recovery mode and the phone kept to boot looping. Then i followed the procedure with sp flash tools.

now i answer one by one your suggestions:
2) : yes i know how to enter recovery mode. Doesn't work any more so 2b needless to say and 3) as well
4) yes TF 4.4.2 is custom recovery but never worked. Keep in mind that i'm E.Eng. and i understand exactly what you mean.

I tried with sp flash tools to flash the OFFICIAL rom stuff but failed again. At this point i had nothing to lose and tried to format partition on the phone and i ended up with the final situation (Alcatel RNDIS - at device manager on windows).

You suggest me to download 2 official ROMS, but how i flash them since the sp falsh tools can't communicate with the phone.
If you think i don't describe exactly what i'm doing or i fully bricked the phone please tell me so and i'll wait for an answer directly from JIAYU company. Anyway thanks very much for the help!

When i say format from inside sp flash tools, i mean the option : "Format whole flash"

hi

Quote:Yes you're right TF comes from needrom.com. But it's not the point.
Actually it is the point......I struggled to understand their instructions so I am very confident you would have the same issue. The key point is they wanted you to install the CTR version of CWM. I accept you never succeeded entering recovery mode..after flashing.

2) Are you suggesting you tried flashtools .....failed and then decided to
Quote:At this point i had nothing to lose and tried to format partition
that is quite a decision......and it was this decision that I believe is the main cause of our issues to date.

2b) When you get a chance....exactly how did you format if you never got into recovery mode?

3)
Quote:sp falsh tools can't communicate with the phone
Agreed

4) There are 2 possible methods that might be available depending on whether the super mods can think of an alternative. At this stage I ask you not to rush into things in case the super mods have a way of helping you and I might not be doing it.

b) there is no harm tho, in letting you know of the other methods
i) one method is to find the service point (service port) and short it
then maybe use a data cable to flash
ii) second method is to try and boot the phone into fastboot mode

try (i) first as its Windows flashtool related
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

I added a tip that with battery removed and if you can't find the spot try the battery terminal
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

right up your alley as I know you know about electricity being an Elect. Engineer

RE: Phone JIAYU G4S hard bricked - mfreak - 2014-07-28

concerning (2b) i told you i could not enter recovery mode by no means. I then run sp flash tools and from the menu format i tried the "Format whole flash". Anyway. During the tests with sp flash tools i always had the battery removed.

So you suggest 2 things.
i) I don't know where the service port is and of course when i find it i should do the test with the battery set on the phone or just plugged it on usb?
ii) Having plugged the usb cable on the phone (and the battery removed) should i short the negative terminal of the battery plug with what kind of terminal? Some kind of local ground? Maybe i don't get you.

What is fast boot mode and how i enter it

Quote:During the tests with sp flash tools i always had the battery removed.
I can't use Windows but I thought at some point you are supposed to reconnect the battery?

2) I believe you leave the battery out once you find the service port. That is because you are going to provide a
"short" or a bridge across 2 electrical points on your device

3) Based on your previous replies I think you have borked your bootloader and therefore won't be able to get to fastboot direct....or any other way.....plus you have said you already tried various button methods

4) I am sending you a pm and note that I have not tried any of this myself so try at own risk
