tablet mods - extra plug or switch

hi

i have a 7" phablet with only a mini USB connector (MT6582 based 4.2.2.).
got 2 questions.

1. i need separate plug for power so i can use the OTG. is it ok if i solder -in parallel- an extra connector ?

2. i play with different firmware and i have to open device every time to disconnect
battery for SP flasher recognition. is it ok to add a switch
just for this purpose ?
