I'm on Jellybean and love it.
4.2.x is still the most commonly used Android out there.
4.2.x is also the most easily rooted. (It doesn't get any easier than Framarooting on an MTK 4.2 phone)
KitKat actually broke a lot of stuff. Lollipop fixes a lot of what was broke. If I had the option to upgrade this phone to KitKat, I wouldn't even bother.
