That's a tricky one. Since this tutorial only shows how to change size ratio between two partitions, it's unimaginable to me how EBR's should be modified in order to have both partitions merged into one. However, new 1.0.3 firmware for iNew V3 merged system and phone storage partitions into one single partition, so one could check the differences between that version and an older one, and see if that could be done on other EBR's, like yours with 32GB. This would require lots of testing and possibly soft-bricks, so unless someone else has a better approach - good luck with it

I've made one tutorial to modify your EBR1 and EBR2 based on your device scatter file. I've tested this tutorial to my device and work perfect. This is only best practice. I took this from chinese thread and interpreted by myself. The source is on the bottom of the tutorial.

Wow! Awesome work! This is how I had it all in my head before compiling EBRtweak. But to simplify things, I did it as NexusTrix described it, by changing only individual bytes at specific offsets. The tutorial you made is much more thorough and detailed. I'll have a look at it more closely when I have time, maybe I'll upgrade ERBtweak soon.
But back to what Fogzter wanted to do it... How can we completely remove one partition from EBR, and merge both "usrdata" and "fat" into one block? Can we just nullify the bytes for other partition? I guess there's much trial and error on that subject...

I had a thought about the one partition thing. I wondered rather than removing the 2nd partition and making one, would it be possible to make the first partition say 30Gb in size and the 2nd one use the remaining 2Gb (or there abouts). And then just not format the second partition so it doesn't show?

I guess it's possible to have 30GB partition, you just have to modify the correct bytes using the formula from previous post. But what I wanted to ask you even before is, which partition do you want to expand to 30GB? If it's the /data partition, then there should be no problems, but if you want to get rid of it (and leave only phone storage partition), that will certainly be the problem, because the OS wouldn't know where to find apps stored on that partition. Not formatting the second partition is doable, but I don't know how OS would react. First it would notify you it's corrupted and that you need to format it, but later I don't know if it would cause problems if you do not format it. So now, I know I didn't help too much, but that's the way I see it. Maybe someone more experienced replies.

Hi Friends,
My device doesn't has EBR2. It has MBR and EBR1. How should I proceed for re-partitioning? Mine is a 4GB ROM device and I want to increase phone memory from 512 MB to 2.5 OR 3 GB.
Perhaps due to difference stated above, no apk is working correctly in my device. Please help.

Error: EBR file not found or file size mismatch!
Both EBR files are in the same folder, I'm on Windows 7. Even if I run as windows xp SP3, no joy. Any ideas?
Sorry for late reply. I didn't get email notification about new replies in this thread...
This error should only come up if there are no EBR1 and EBR2 files in the same folder in which the .exe file resides, and also if any of the EBR files have a size less or more than 512 bytes. So, if all of that is not the case, maybe it's due to folder access rights. Can you please try to move the whole folder inside you profile folder (ie. My Documents, or similar one)? You could also send me the files via PM, maybe I can see more clearly what's going on.
Thanks for testing
I am also getting the same error. EBR1 file size is only 1kb. EBR2 file size is 512kb. These are the sizes I see from the backup of MTK Droid tools(v2.5.3).
I would like my data partition to increase from the present 1GB to 1.5GB.
Why is the EBR1 file size is only 1 kb. Is there any other way of getting the EBR1 and EBR2 files other than MTKDroid tools?
If you want I can send the files by PM to you
Thanks in anticipation.

No, there's no need to send me the files. My app can work only if both EBR files are present, and they both must be 512b in size. If you have any other combination (just one EBR, or one EBR of a different size), it won't work (error message will be shown). That is by design and I didn't want it to be any other way, because we only know how to modify EBR files if they meet specific criteria. If there were no conditions like that, all hell would break loose. Hope you understand.

I have a Star S7589 MTK6589 with 1GB Internal Storage for apps, and 1.5GB Phone Storage for media files. After using the EBRtweak (that is GREAT tool to change the size of EBR files) and change to 2.5GB Internal Storage for apps, has left 214MB for Phone storage for media files.
Like Android-uk said "Does anyone know how to stop the phone storage from auto mounting in windows? Its annoying."
YES! There is one way. Tested by myself 4 times today. After delete and put back the ROM.
1. Plug your phone in computer and select USB Storage, the Phone Storage and the SD Disk will appear on Windows (I'm using Windows 7 32 bits), both with letters.
2. Go to Control Painel > Administratives Tools > Computer Management > Repository > Disk Management, on the Phone Storage (mine is 214MB exFAT) right-click it and 'Change the letter", after this REMOVE THE LETTER.
This partition will not show anymore on your phone, and when you turn on the USB Storage in Windows, will not appear, but will still be visible only in Disk Management. If somehow you decide to use it again, back there (Disk Management) and add a letter. The partition will be displayed again in My Computer and the phone will recognize it again too. When turned on USB Storage the annoying thing will auto mount again.
Sorry for my english, I'm trying hard with Google translate.

Interested to this thread, hope we can find solutions for mt6572 too. I will start testing ebr files from 6572 phones soon when i have time.
