So it has been several months with the option of an octa core phone. My question is "Has the Mediatek MT6592 lived up to its hype?"
Let us know your thoughts and perhaps experiences if you have used one. This is a potentially a great tool for those folks looking to buy a phone or upgrade their phone.
I'll start.
There are many people that think you won't notice any difference in daily use between the mt6589t quad core and the mt6592 octa core. When I first tried the octa core I did notice a bit of a difference in the fluidity of the screens but i wasn't blown away by it. The biggest thing I noticed in common with the 2 octa cores that I tried was the much faster battery drain than its predecessor. Comparing similar size displays and resolutions with similar size batteries against each other it is very apparant that the mt6589t is a much better option if long battery life is a key feature for you.
Now here is the funny thing.....after using a mt6592 octa phone for several weeks I went back to my mt6589t quad and immediately saw and felt the difference. The quad was not nearly as responsive as the octa and I noticed lag I hadn't before. For now it appears it is a trade off between the extra performance and longer battery life.
I have felt from the very beginning that the mt6592 octa was rushed onto the market and perhaps it is merely an optimization issue that can be fixed over the next several months. I'm optimistic this is the case and we can all start enjoying the octa to its full potential.
