[TUTORIAL] flashing and reviving a dead or alive Allview AX4 Nano Phablet
#1
As I promised I will wip up a full tutorial about flashing and reviving a dead or alive Allview AX4 Nano Phablet ( Chinese “frypan” ) like mine. This tutorial will be posted on other forums as well

The tablet (phablet) is called AX4 Nano, it’s a cheap coppy of an ALPS tablet or so I see from the build.prop file. Anyways you can find the full specs on [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] or in the [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register].

Info:
Code:
SPECIFICATIONS
OS: Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
CPU: Cortex-A7, 1.3GHz Dual Core , 512 MB RAM, 4 GB EMMC (Storage)
GPU: Mali-400 MP
Networking: 3G built-in, HSPA+
Display: 7", TN LCD, Capacitiv, multitouch 800 x 480 pixels

From Build.prop
# begin mediatek build properties
ro.mediatek.version.release=ALPS.JB5.TABLET.MP.V1
ro.mediatek.platform=MT6582
ro.mediatek.chip_ver=S01
ro.mediatek.version.branch=ALPS.JB5.TABLET.MP
ro.mediatek.version.sdk=1
# end mediatek build properties
# begin Allview Properties
ro.product.model=AX4Nano
ro.product.brand=ALLVIEW
ro.mtk.hardware=mt8312
ro.product.name=AX4Nano
ro.product.device=Allview_AX4Nano_ICS
ro.product.board=AX4Nano
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
ro.product.manufacturer=ALLVIEW
# Do not try to parse ro.build.description or .fingerprint
ro.build.description=allview82_6126-user 4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.liujing.1393838060 test-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=alps/allview82_6126/allview82_6126:4.2.2/JDQ39/1393838060:user/test-keys

# end Allview build properties

Folowing this tutorial will not make me responsible in any possible way of any harm brought to your tablet by yourself and there following it you declare that you understand the risks of brick-ing or even killing your device. Ok all this bulls*it been sed lets carry on!

First you will need some essential stuff:
1. Preferably a Windows PC (XP/7 is preffered) and a USB 2.0 Port. (I had problems with 8.1 and USB3)
2. VCOM Drivers (Flash drivers, needed for SPFlash) --> Download [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
3. ADB Drivers (Drivers needed for MTK Droid and other software) --> Download [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] Or alternate Driver pack (VCOM+ADB+PDA.net) --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
4. an UNBRICK package LITE or FULL (lite in case ur stuck on bootloops, full in case of dead tablet)
5. SPFlash (Download [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]) and MTK Droid Tools (Download [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]) / Older versions of MTK Droid Tools (in case last version fails) 2.5.2 --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] / 2.4.6 --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
6. KingoRoot ( in case you want to root it, you will need it anyways hehe) --> Download [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
7. Basic Android / PC skills (advanced is an advantage hehe)
8. ALL NEEDED FILES HERE ([Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register])

Let’s start: Get USBDeview ([Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]) and remove all drivers insalled before (MTK/ADB/YunOS/PDA.net), restart your PC and install drivers supplied.
If your tablet is working and want to do a full readout or just flash custom recovery MTK DT can do this for you if u have ur working drivers and your tablet is recognized by the pc. Get a root shell by pressing the ROOT button down and then go to the root, backup, recovery tab and select back-up to make a back-up (its good to have one handy ;) ), click recovery and boot to patch your boot and flash CWM, delete china to remova all the Chinese software in case you have some installed. In phone information tab you can build a scater file by ckicking show blocks and then build scatter (wich is good to have also), this file show spflash tool where are your partitions and what it should flash and where. Besides that it shows you usefull info about the tablet. In the same tab you have a button called IMEI / NVRAM (this is usefull in case of bricked tablets (you will see onward).

OK so you made your scatter file, good put it in hand you will need it shortly.

Lets say your tablet is soft-bricked (bootloop) Download the LITE unbrick package --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] (contains preloader and CWM recovery). Fire up SPFlashtool load your scatter from the pack or the one u made in last step and then load up the 2 files and click download, (your tablet showld be turned off and holding VOL+), connectthe cable, after this your tablet showld start normaly.

If you have a dead tablet (not starting at all) download the FULL unbrick package -->[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] (contains full flash readout from a working 4.2.2 JB); Load the scatter and and click Download. You showld be holding VOL+ and connecting the cable … SPFlash showld start … (if this fails, I have found another solution but it takes some soldering skils… you have to unsolder the red battery whire from the PCB like in the picture --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] ) flashing takes from 5-15 minutes so don’t touch the cable . After it finishes you showld have a working tablet with android 4.2.2 now its necessary to root it using Kingo (just connect and click root, sit back and relax while it works). After rooting you whould restore your IMEI with MTK Droid (click IMEI/NVRAM insert IMEI 1 or 2 or both if its dual sim and click the button), now restart for changes to take effect. (optionally you may need a NVRAM backup, to restore just download, load files in MKD and push the button… get it --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]) . After restoring NVRAM, restore IMEI aswell. If yow get WIFI NVRAMx10 Error download --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] and extract it, then put it in /data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEBED (overwrite and set permissions to 660 / rw- rw- --- , Reboot, id error persists long click and forget … and it showld be gone. If you want a custom MAC for your WIFI adapter then you have to hex-edit it. Download HexEditor --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
And open WIFI and starting from line 1 column 04 to 09 you showld edit the mac in format 00 EE FF CC AA 11 (hex format without : ).

Now lets update to 4.4.2 huraaay Smiling . First download the Official OTA package --> [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] (extract it soo you can get the ZIP), put the ZIP(not7z) it in the root of your SD card, power off the tablet and when its turned off hold VOL+ + Power till the Allview logo shows up, then release. Now you showld be in recovery (stock), now navigate to flash zip from sd card select the file “AX4Nano_KitKat_SV7.0_ota_update_01.09.zip” (not 7z). After it flashes you showld have a full working, rooted no wifi error 3g working KitKat install on the AX4Nano by Allview (else repeate the NVRAM / IMEI / ROOT part).

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] you can find a tweakd GPS.conf file wich goes to /system/etc/ (permissions 644), its mostly intended for Romanian users having problems with GPS reception on there devices, ofcourse engineering mode will do better but that will come in a later tutorial. For now I can only give some references from yooutube .

Thanks too all the members from the 3 forums wich replyed to my threads and gave a helping hand and the authors of the youtube clips !

can you do a full edit of your first post and pulldown the section that says ROM and change that to TUTORIAL

change your subject line to read the name of your device
phablet AX4 Nano

I will leave it to mods to decide where this should be posted or left in this General phone/hack forum.

You can aply just the tutorial not the files except your phone (phablet/tablet) in this case is Allview AX 4 Nano! The flashing procedure is the same on all MTK Phones/Tablets but you must flash files suited for your device, unless u want to end up with a ping-pong palet Smiling ! I suggest you open a new thread (only if you dont allready find the model / topic of your device) using your phone's data .

Something like ...

TITE: [HELP] Revive "Phone Name"

CONTENT:
1. Phone brand (original / fake / clone / copy wtvr)
2. Phone name (model )
3. Phone chipset MTK 65xx
4. What happened
5. What you need / want to do.

And shortly someone will reply with some info !

Good luck !
