Thanks for your reply. I have installed the rom that you suggested but it doesn't recognise the sim.
Settings--> about phone--> Baseband version-->unknown.

OK, try restoring the NVRAM backup you made. The instructions to restore it are also in the tutorial link.

MTK Droid Tools doesn't recognise the phone . I had it root with frama root. Is there any other way to do root? what have I done wrong?

I don't think the rooting could have messed up the phone.
Other than the nullified IMEI and unknown baseband, is the phone functional? Try re-installing PdaNet drivers.
How does Droid Tools not recognize it? Do you have your phone turned on? Usually an error is logged on the right, what does it say?

i 've tried permanent permission but the problem continues to exist.
The IMEI is null and the Baseband is unknown.
