I have now installed the older THOR_E-2017_05_24.rar and the compass works.
But google maps shows "low" in quality. The calibration I have done several times.

Compass is a relatively simple component. Download any compass app and see if it turns when you turn the phone.

One probably "stupid" question as I am new to TWRP:

When I "install" TWRP 3.0.3 as in the begin of this thread using the SP Flash Tool can I than still use the phone in normal mode, i.e. without doing the changing the default OTA ROM into the "root ROM"?

I like to do things step by step, so therefore.

Thanks for the detailed instructions on how to install TWRP!

Based on "If you decide to install the TWRP custom recovery" I conclude installing TWRP is optional and not really needed to get root access.
If you just want to get root access you can only "install" the thor-e-2017_06_15 ROM from your UPDATE – 17 June 2017 and done. Right?

Let me clarify (for all the owners of Thor E).

If you wish to acquire the root privileges :

Flash the twrp and install SuperSU.zip

If you wish to restore the phone to its original state :

Flash the stock rom (Firmware Upgrade option).

Keep in mind that on the latest OTA update (2017-06-15) there is a bug.
The compass does not work.
Then, if your phone has a previous version of firmware,
please do not upgrade to the 2017-06-15

After upgrade to THOR-E-20170704 no root. Recovery mode also does not work. TWRP 3.0.3 does not work. Sad

I could tell you the story about 20170704.
But it is a long story ... too long.
The only thing I can tell you is that there was no progress on 20170704.
The things have gotten more complicated on 20170704.
But the Vernee developers still have no fixed the bugs.

As I have already said :
At this moment the Thor_E_20170524 firmware is the best option.
It is the only one with the working Compass.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION (please read very carefully)

The twrp 3.1.0 is not as easy as the previous twrp 3.0.3
The first time that you will enter onto twrp, you will see an unusual behavior.
I will try to put some more light on it :

a) Ask a password, please skip it (only the first time).
b) Cyrillic alphabet (only the first time).
c) Dalvik / ART Cache not working (only the first time).
d) Data partition of 0 MB (only the first time).
e) When you will restore your first full backup, it will be like a factory reset.

But do not worry, it will happen only the first time

TWRP INSTALLATION STEPS :

I strongly recommend you the next version of SP Flash Tool :

1) Tap on Settings --> About phone --> Tap Build number seven times.
Developer options --> OEM unlocking enabled and USB debugging enabled.

2) Download the NEW SuperSU v2.82 zip at the next link :

4) Turn off the phone.
5) Open SP Flash Tool.
6) Unrar the TWRP rar.
7) Load the scatter file inside the twrp folder.
