Invalid IMEI - MTK 6582

I have a 1:1 S5 copy, MTK 6582 with an invalid IMEI.

Can someone suggest to best method/tool/tutorial to solve this?

Also, do I need root?

I used Kingo Root to root the device, but it does not appear rooted to me, and although the tool has an unroot option, it doesn't even recognize the device now.

Run root checker from Play to see if you're rooted.

Hello to all,
apologize my poor english.
I've a note 4 mtk 6582 user build, normally rooted.
Imei results 555555555555555.
I tried Android Tools, Monuncle Tools and hard reset in vain.
Using Meta Maui I cannot get metamode.
What can I do?
