Hello everybody,
within this posting I would like to ask for urgent help dealing some critical problems with the iNew V3 (WCDMA 850/2100) from my father-in-law. I met him yesterday and he told me that his V3 suddenly does not start anymore. I cannot reproduce what has lead to this situation but due to the fact that I´ve flashed some Samsung-Galaxy and HTC smartphones in the past I thought it would be possible to help him. After doing some research I found out that "china-phones" seems to work a bit different to what I am knowing so far --> so I really appreciate you help with the following.
status quo:
- when I put in the battery and press the start button the system "boots" with a iNew start screen (blue "i" and green "new") --> thats all. Nothing else happens
- when I put in the battery again and start with power + volume up I the a green android lying on his back with a red exclamation mark sign on his stomach. pressing power button on the screen bringt me to a recovery that looks a bit like CWM (which I already know from other phones). Headline is "Android system revovery <3e>
As much as I read so far this is not a real CWM and functionalities are reduced. I can see the following entries (orange font on black screen):
- reboot system now
- apply update from ADB
- apply update from sdcard
- apply update from cache
- wipe data / factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- backup user data
- restore user data
I don´t know what of those items my father-in-law already used / tried out. Fact is. No matter what I try there, after choosing I always see the android with the red exclamation mark sigh .
Usually I was thinking: Ok, you have a recovery so just put a ROM on the sdcard, flash it and everything is fine.
Questions to you:
1) what do you recommend me to do
2) can I really take a device specific ROM and flash it or do I have to root the device before?
2.1) What ROM would you do? In general I prefer cyanogenmod but this doesn´t seem to exist for china phones like the iNew V3.
3) Is there any step by step explanation I can work with to set up the phone working again (in best case better than it worked before )
best!
