Thanks for the reply. I cannot tell if the phone has charged or run down because it cannot shut off when it is totally black. I have discovered that the device and printer window of my PC shows 2 icons alternately when I plug in the phone. One says; Alcatel single RNDIS interface, and the other says; MT65xx preloader with yellow triangular icon that has a; "!" in it. These flash on alternately, and I have tried holding buttons on the phone or holding the reset button with a sim tool while this is going on, but nothing results in any signs of life on the screen.
I have never used flash tools or modified/recovered rom on a phone, so do not know how to proceed at this point. If anyone knows of a tech-savvy person in Sonoma county, CA. who does Android recovery and who might help me, I would be willing to pay for their assistance.

There should be a reset button (I think you noted that you tried it or found it).
The removal of the battery must be thought of as holding down the button. THL 5000 is the same way.
THE EASY WAY TO THINK ABOUT IT:
When you are holding down the button, it is the same as holding the battery in your hand.
When you are not holding down the button, it is the same as putting the battery back into the phone.

From the sounds of your problem, you might want to read up on SP Flash tool in the thread linked above. It sounds to me like you might have the wrong drivers installed on your computer, which is preventing you from moving forward.
If it were me, I'd prioritize the following:
1. Learn about SP Flash Tool and how to flash a ROM. Read threads and watch lots of YouTube videos to make sure you understand.
2. Try to get your phone working with SP Flash Tool. Note the thread above. Often times you have the wrong driver, or perhaps an incompatible version of SP Flash Tool. Try different combinations until you get one working.
3. Flash the ROM you got off of NeedROM. Aside from perhaps having to restore your IMEI, you should be back in business.
