okay, so... first, none of the rooting ways reset the device.
second, wireless update app comes with stock ROM, so it should be there. it's icon is a circle with three triangles in it. if you can't find it, you can try getting into recovery and flashing the file from the recovery. to get into recovery, when the phone is off, press volume up + power, hold until the screen lights up with options (recovery, fastboot, normal boot). then choose recovery with volume up, confirm choice with volume down. dead android with "no command" below appears on the screen. shortly press volume up + power - menu should appear. if it doesn't, then you're probably out of sync, try a few times till you get it. then choose "apply update from sdcard", choose the file and you're golden.
third. for the second manual to work (root by KlausMinator), you have to have OEM unlocking and USB debugging switched on in the Developer options.
fourth, guys, if you cannot get it working with the info provided, you should be very careful what you wish for - perhaps you should leave the idea of rooting your device. if you mess it up (and it is probable and very much possible), you'll be in a world of trouble
