IMO, I wouldn't worry about art not working. I know it can be anmoying, to not solve the problem, but @modestmouse is probably right, you're very unlikely to notice any difference.

ART is working ok at my V8 at all of the roms I have try.
Do you have Gravity box installed?
If yes you have to delete it and unistall the xposed framework to make it work.

I try switch to ART a few days ago, and it work by itself. I didn't need to do anything. Maybe after I root him, then start to works, I don't no, but its work now.
