NOTE: We don't recommend this anymore. Too many users with issues because phones starting to come with non-standard EBR. See the sticky on how to edit your own EBR. [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
This is just a start. Please add your custom EBRs.
For phones with 16GB storage
13GB on your internal system storage
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
This can be flashed through SP Flash Tools OR through custom recovery. After flashing, factory reset.
7GB on your internal system storage
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
This needs to be flashed through SP Flash Tools. After flashing, factory reset.
Will try to get more added later.
You use these at your own risk. Backup your current EBR and EBR1 before you modify / change partitions on your MT6589, MT6592, MT6589T, MT6577 Mediatek smart phone.

I have been trying to repartition my mom's phone storage on and off for a year! Everything I try ends in failure. Soft bricks after soft bricks, sometimes scary ones that make me feel like I hard bricked it.
It's a Star s7100... mtk6577 with 4gb storage, and only 512mb available for apps. My sister had the same phone and I had no problems partitioning hers to 2.5(ish)gb internal storage. I even tried flashing her EBR file into my mom's phone but it just gets the phone stuck on the boot logo (factory reset and/or rom install won't fix it). This phone just refuses to let me repartition it.
Can anyone help? I need to finally get this done so I can sell the phone and get her that shiny new iNew
edit* not sure if should have just made a new thread for this. I felt like this was a good spot for it though.
edit part 2* I should probably mention that I've tried the flashable files (one made specifically for this phone, which worked on my sister's phone) and repartitioning apk's. Always soft bricks.

What's the problem now, you're still trying to get it partitioned, or the phone is soft-bricked?
It sounds like you're just trying to get it working again so it can be sold, is that correct? Have you tried flashing the stock firmware back?

The phone is fine, I just need to make the apps partition bigger, as it's only 512mb, while there is 1.68gb of useless "phone storage". Basically I'm asking if you know of some other way that I can try...

Did you try the EBR from H7500+?
Regardless, if you're going to sell it, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'll give it a try tonight and report back.
I want to "fix" it because whoever buys it will probably get really frustrated with the small amount of space... 500mb is only a couple apps worth of space. My mom can't install ish on her phone, and I've felt bad for her for this. Let's just say I'd like to do the buyer a favor. If I can't do it then oh well.
Anyways if it works I'll report back, it may help someone in the future.

Okay, it makes sense.
Also take a look at the working EBRs vs the ones that aren't working in a hex editor.

H7500+ EBR file soft bricks the phone (saw that coming). This phone just refuses to be repartitioned lol.
I played around with the EBR files in a hex editor. They are all too different for me to try to make any changes. Some are even much longer.
I went back to the beginning and tried that APK (again) I found on the Spanish site ( [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]). It doesn't matter which option I choose (2gb, 2.5, 3gb), it changes the data partition to 1gb. 1gb is better than 500mb. I'm just gonna leave it like this and get rid of it (after the replacement loudspeaker arrives).
Thanks for trying to help and sorry for cluttering your thread here.

Not a clutter at all, man. This thread is all about changing partitions, wherever that leads us. Thanks for the update.

Hi there,
I'm a total newbie here coming over from the "Fairphone" forums. As the Fairphone seems to be a close relative to the MTK-phones (6589m chipset), someone pointed out this thread to deal with the low internal storage of the Fairphone. I have no real idea what to do with the ZIP-File I found in this thread, though. I guess I have to follow the "How to Flash ROM"-Thread? But does flashing keep my Fairphone's Android firmware intact? What exactly happens, when I flash my phone?
Sorry for those annoying newbie-questions... I'm quite disappointed that my upcoming 16GB-phone will only have 1GB of "internal storage". So for the first time I'm considering to mess around with it, once it arrives next week. I don't want to brick it, though, of course...
