Just sideloaded the needrom rom and it started to install. It says - Warning No file_contexts This package is for"S850" devices. this is a "p188fo4" status 7 installation aborted.

well do you truly have a s850?

if you can get into normal boot see if wifi works go to playstore and install cpu-z and run it

2) mtk droid tools is supposed to show fake chipsets as well but me thinks you have already used that?

No rom installed at moment so will have to back to begining and try again. Not sure there are lenovo clones even made. I will report back later. Thanks again.

I think the recovery you made thinks the phone is a zte grand x as thats what p188f04 refers to and windows tried to install drivers for a ZTE when it was connected. I have edited the rom file which checks for it so it does not and will trry again.

I have managed to install the imei's using mobileuncle and I have a .bak file backed up to pc but I have no service so I think it is not the correct rom for my phone so not sure I will find it now as I dont think lenovo provides them.

The rom that came installed was - vibeui_v9.5_9422_3_st_s850 but I cant find anything online matching it.

so this error is occuring during sideload?

normal boot up can not see that build.prop so if you use adb during normal bootup ....pls report the error disappears

if so .....I will remaster the CWM to mod the properties
That is not too difficult just a text file

2) what concerns me more....is TWRP/CWM/CTR are all giving you errors and so far that means you can't do a backup to internal storage.
b) That also means....if we don't resolve this....you might have only flashtools to use for nandroid backup

keep it as a zip file but name it .....ram.zip because its a special CWM that runs in ram. Once you reboot phone....its lost as it was only loaded in ram
but if it works.....you just follow the same process to load it again.

Much later ....we make look to see if ...if it works....to carry those good bits into CTR but that is second guessing your tests

4) to use it....place it in your internal storage
reboot into CTR
install zip
from internal storage
choose ram.zip

5) what happens to you....is you get CWM in ram only and it will be upside down

just use the buttons opposite to what you think ....no problems there

I need you to re-test backup to internal storage

I am a bit lost now to be honest. I feel I need the correct rom which may sort the issues as obviously the modems are wrong too since it will not connect to network.

I downloaded a random ROM this morning to inspect. I got the 1435 from here [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] and it has the file you're referring to, aus9.
There is also one that is tagged stable version. might be worth a shot?

Thats the one I have downloaded and attempted to sideload but fails due to thinking its a zte. I tried editing the updater script after watching a video where it says remove the part that it checks but once re zipped it just aborts installation so must not be zipped correct after the edit.

well we know where ZTE is coming from

DO NOT EDIT that rom pls.....use my newer ctr to try to fix
also when you edit a rom.....you normally have to generate a new md5 sum.

ok from updater script we have a kind of if-then logic statement

basically this is the only ro.product the updater is looking for so I will be creative with the other ro.products and call them S850

the error was with wrong strings in one or more init*.rc files

ok finally getting somewhere on internal storage issue

assuming your device is rooted I need the following output copy and paste or photo if unable to
this is Android commands.....let me know if you would like to do it by adb......no rush

the find command will list all fstabs on your system but I am not sure where yours is,
mine should be in /etc/fstab but its not.....grrr its at base of /
