hi just go to Settings -> audio Profiles -> General (select if not selected)
click on the right side you see 3 horizontal sliders



Now in the menu de-select:

Touch Sounds
Vibrate on Touch

also you can change/set your default Notification sound
and de-select locksound if prefered ofcourse

or optionally flash a rom (root your phone) then open google Play and
download "Ultimate Sound Control" to enable/disable/replace
all system sounds

Nope its not that. I get a noise when I refresh twitter/Facebook. Send/receive a message on whatsapp. Every time I watch a video, I get a pop and then a second or two of crackling noise then another pop.

I appreciate your help geekgirl but that didn't solve the problem. I don't think it's a noise the phone actually wants to make, it sounds like if you were tuning an old radio and you were between stations, that crackling noise with a pop either side of it. I'm sure it's something within the phone, maybe it processing or something?

And just playing a game now, turn the volume off and I can still hear a slight crackling from the speakers. It sounds like the phone is trying to play the sounds from the game even though it's on silent...

If you have it also when you play a game or listen music or watching a video etc then it might be an hardware defect, what rom are you using the one that was already on the phone (so called stock rom) or you flashed a rom on it?

Its a stock rom, the newest one from the 2014 phones as I only got it a few days ago.

I think it seems to be the speaker turning on and off again? I've just turned off all sounds on twitter and refreshing my feed now, the sound is gone. But yeah, its far too loud and very annoying. a quick search on Google tells me some other android phones have done it, I'm guessing with varying degrees.

Okay. No, it's not the same. I thought you were talking about the echo of the unlocking sound.

These popping noises can be a result of firmware issues, but it sounds like you're on the newest firmware if it's 1.0.4. Still, it can't hurt to reflash 1.0.4 or give 1.0.3 a try and see if it does the same.

Well looks like I'm going to have to send this back. Its become unbearable. Go to watch a video, audio is on silent, speaker sounds like a rocket taking off. Very annoying.

Aokqy so had it for a few months now. Really like it. Now though,I'm getting a totally unresponsive lock screen. I plugged it in with my friends charger and that was acting funny now this. It charges when turned off and then not when turned on also. Bought it from 1949deal
