INEW I2000 3G problems (Rooted 4.2.1)
#1
I'm having issues staying connected to 3g here in the US. I'm on a ATT ST sim and the speed is great the connection is around 7MBPS + but after 10 mins the network locks up and I cant receive calls, internet or texts. So then I have to refresh to stay connected. On 2g edge everything works great but just slow internet as expected. I have tried the 3 V7 basebands but they dont show any bars. I have tried the V6.P4 baseband as well, still no bars. Only baseband that works is the original V6.P1. Im out of ideas, any help guys?Undecided

Hi, Paul. I have read posts on another forum where the sales manager listed below discusses how the iNew engineers have reduced the 850 frequency power output because the phones are designed primarily for the Chinese market's 2100 signal.
Here's the conversation quote exactly:
"The information I got from the factory and engineer is:
All the smart phones are with 850, 1900 and 2100.
To make the phone has good WCDMA signal, the software are make 2100 stonger, even 850 is not good as 2100. 1900 is only fro South American market, we have no big buyer there, so the PCB board make 1900 signal even weaker then 850ghz."

I know they have released several firmware updates for the i2000, but don't know anything specifically about the changes within them. You may try to reach out directly to Hoper and see if he can provide any clarification or suggestion to fix the issue.

The only other consideration I can think of offhand would be the ATT APN settings... maybe there's a configuration edit needed.
Here's one listing, but I don't know how old this is: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]
Here's another from XDA: [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

I wouldn't trust this sales manager much further than I could throw him. First, no iNew phone has 1900MHz WCDMA, and second, 1900 is a major 3G frequency in USA. All of T-Mobile is 1900.

It COULD be true regarding 850 receiving less juice, but if he doesn't even know what radios are included in the phones, or that 1900 is a major HSDPA network in USA, anything else he says needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Nothing against you Pufferaway. Hi!

OP, definitely first thing to do as Pufferaway mentioned is make sure you're on the latest stock firmware.

No offense taken, Gizbeat! Thumbs Up

This is the way I viewed the statement: Considering the possibility that the gentlemen may not be translating Chinese to English exactly and that no specific power outputs were given, I took into account that stating "1900 signal even weaker then 850" can mean anything lower than the output setting of 850... even zero output.

Would the USA market even be on the iNew radar?

The other consideration is that more customer contact from outside of the Chinese market may influence future decisions... such as better International support and more frequent firmware release schedules. At least we can remain hopeful for such things.
