cadcae, is the BROM error still the problem you are getting?
Does Droid Tools recognize your phone and its hardware? As far as I know, if the hardware (processor, gpu, etc) is still sending the correct (and recognizable) signatures it is most probably still functional.
It would be a shame to see your phone go to waste if your hardware is not damaged.
Have you tried manually installing the drivers? From the image you posted, your phone is recognized as DA USB VCOM Port, I think it should be recognized as Preloader.
@"cadcae" and @"filipgrk" , try the following:
1. Uninstall your all instances of your phone in usbdeview, reboot.
2. Go to Device Manager, click on Ports.
3. From the menu bar, select Action -> Add legacy hardware -> Next
4. Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
5. Select Show All Devices -> Next
6. Click on Have Disk -> Browse. Then point to ...\MTK_USB_ADB_Ultimate\All MTK USB Driver 2014\All MTK Drivers\MT65xx Preloader\Win7\usb2ser_Win7 or usb2ser_Win764 for 64-bit -> OK
7. Under Model select MediaTek DA USB VCOM Port
8. Repeat 2-6 and select model MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port
I hope it works for you.
