[How-To] ** change your new EBR´s and Scatter to Factory default **
#1
First make Backup from your Phone!
All you do - at your own risk!

Important: Be sure - USB-Debugging on Phone is on and all proper USB-Driver are installed!

Here all nessessary Files and Pictures etc.
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

In a new Post I will published changed and tested Phones with EBR1 & EBR2 and Scatter-Files for other User with the same Phone!

@All MTK-Users

In the last time I read a lot of Repartition your Phone. Many Tools do the Job for the User, but I think this is only the half Job.

Most Phones come with diff. Size in RAM and ROM and Internal & Phone-Storage. Most of them has only 1GB Internal Storage. That is the reason, to Repartition some Phones Internal Storage. This is the "Place" where the Apps resides.

The most use a Tool/App to increase the Memory of Internal Storage. In this Case - the EBR's (1&2) have a important Function.

So far so good. Most changed the EBR's but this is only the half way. Better is - when Phones comes from Factory with the changing of that you like to do.

I found a way to do this very easy. It takes about 1 hour and you are ready for the future.

First you need a Backup of your Phone and don't forget, the Internal Storage. It will be erased later. Connect also your Phone to your PC with USB and activate it. Copy your Files and whatever you want to your PC.

Disconnect your Phone.

BTW: I work from my First day's with CWM Backup. It was developed from Koushik Dutta - a Master in that Scene (Android)! Some People works hard and developed compatible CWM Recovery. One of them is Carliv - a very recomm. Developer. I used his CWM on a lot of Phones and some Tablet's. It works!

Enclosed you will find a link to install one of the Best CWM Recovery. I tell you this - and many other things so clear and easy. I have tested it many many times and it works - no damaged Backups. And the CWM from Carliv has many options to make and restore Backups.

Important: If you create your new CWM Recovery before the Backup with MTK, it would be saved and flashed by MTK!

[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

If you like to try - download the Port-Recovery and create it - and make the first Backup.

Back to Repartition. I forgot, the Environment is the Important for all People.

So, we need MTK Droid Tool (MTK) in Version 2.48b and SPFlash Tools Version 3.x or 5.x!

Start MTK as Administrator.

Please make first with MTK a Backup of your NVRAM!! It is nessessary and Important!

The difference is, with the older MTK you can make Backups from System & Userdata. It take's a while. On the other Hand you make the Backup with MTK 2.53 & CWM you can restore only Userdata with Advanced Option.

When Backup with MTK is finished you are asked to Pack Backup. You can do this or not. (only one File).

After this select Prepare Files for SPFlash Tools. This will be create a Folder with all Files (maybe except Userdata).
In this Folder you will found all Files included the 2 EBR's Files 1&2 with exact Size of 512B and the Scatter File from your Phone.

The next Step shut off your Phone.

Go here to create and calculate the EBRs and Scatter:
[Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register]

Rename your Orginal EBR1 & 2 to Org and copy your changed EBR1 & 2 in this Folder and use different Names - EBR1_2_5 & EBR2_2_5 and Scatterxxx_2_5.txt.
See my Pictures with old and new Scatter Files.

Your EBR's are right with the new Size!

The next Step open SPFlash Tools as Administrator and select the new Scatter. Be sure, you are in the right Folder! Check all Boxes and proof exactly all images only from this !SPFlash Tools Folder. For Usrdata you can select a small .img. (lk=uboot.img).

Pull Battery from Phone.
Select important - Firmware Upgrade in SPFlash Tools and click Download!

Connect your Phone with USB and immed. Battery in. Normaly the Flash-Progress will be start and you see some Color Lines. The yellow Line is the Flash. If finished you will see a small Box with a green circle.

You are done.

Disconnect your Phone & start CWM Recovery with Vol+ & Power together. Press it for about 10sec.

In CWM go to wipe Menue and select Wipe Cache. Then you can restore your Data. Backup/ Advanced Restore Data.

After this you can boot your Phone!
It takes a while.

This is the way to received a Factory-Phone with the changed Internal Storage.

You Proof this with the App Terminal-Emulator from Pallevic. Write su for Supervisor then
cat /proc/dumchar_info and you will see the right Values! Do this before you have flashed - you see only 1GB Internal Storage. The dumchar is the "bible" for Android!

BTW: Make a Folder Phone on your SDCard. Go in this Folder. Make a new Folder System and then a new Folder Info_Android.

Copy this lines and paste it in Terminal Emulator.

su

cat /proc/cpuinfo >/storage/sdcard0/Phone/system/info_android/cpuinfo_N9950.txt

free >/storage/sdcard0/Phone/system/info_android/free_N9950.txt

mount >/storage/sdcard0/Phone/system/info_android/mount_N9950.txt

df >/storage/sdcard0/Phone/system/info_android/df_N9950.txt

cat /proc/partitions >/storage/sdcard0/Phone/system/info_android/partitions_N9950.txt

cat /proc/dumchar_info >/storage/sdcard0/Phone/system/info_android/dumchar_info_N9950.txt

cat /proc/meminfo >/storage/sdcard0/Phone/system/info_android/meminfo_N9950.txt

You will have allways the correct Information as txt-File.

This Post is not finished yet - some changes in Text will be edited immed.

Greetings

and good Luck

So what you are saying is
1. Make edited EBR files with the larger userdata
2. edit the scatter file to make the FAT value the same as the starting point of the sd card partition in the edited EBR
3.flash EBR and updated scatter then restore
Is that right?

Hello,

no. All Steps are described in my Post before. You have after changig the Scatter-Address and the new EBR´s flashing all as Firmware Upgrade.

If you flash z.B. only the EBR´s - that is not the same and you have the old Addresses inside.

Please read my Post again and you see and understand what I´m meaning.

Ciao

Ok thanks - interesting that you have to do a full firmware upgrade flash. I take it this is required to update the dumbchar_info? This must mean the device stores the scatter file somewhere on the device - do you know where?

Hello,
may be the Version 4.0.3 or the MT6575 are not compatible.

You must have normaly 2 EBR's.

If you have only one - EBR1 - they must contain the Infos of both EBR's.

Sorry, I don't try this with one EBR.

I don't think that the problem is in phone flash, but in changing of EBR's and Scatter file. If you want, I can send you my original EBR1, EBR2 and Scatter.
