Hello,
here I will inform you, how to create & change the Addresses for:
1. EBR1
2. EBR2
3. Scatter-File
You can change the Addresses in EBR-Files 1&2 manuell. For most User is this mybe complicated. I have found a Calculation-Tool - EBR-Tweak 1.0a. This Tool change your Original-EBR-Files 1&2 to the right Size.
Many Thanks to Burs and grittyKitty!
What you need:
1. Your Original EBR Files 1&2. Be sure - it is the Original with 512Bytes.
2. Your Original Scatter File.
3. EBRTweak 1.0a
3. Windows-Calculator - changed it to Hex.
4. MTK DroidTools 2.48b or 2.53 Backup.
Go in your Folder from MTK 2.48b/2.53 - "Files to Flash Tools". Here is the Backup you have made before. Make a new Folder there "EBRs-Scatter".
Copy your Original Files EBR1 & EBR2, Scatterxxx.txt and EBRTweak.rar in this Folder. Unzip EBRTweak here!
Be sure, that EBR 1&2 and the Scatter are really your Original Files. (EBR´s must be each 512B Size and in the same Folder) Rename the EBRs after creating!! The .bak Files after creating are your Original EBRs!
Please use only from 1.5GB to 4GB. CWM create Backups from System, boot- recovery etc. and usrdata-Section. Maybe here are Problems with to bigger Size! I have tested with max. 4GB. It works! Another reason can be the 4GB Limit on FAT32-Partition!
I have over 200 Apps - only in Internal Storage installed. From 2.5GB are more than 1GB free.
Some User think, oh, I have 16 or 32GB ROM - Lets change the Internal Storage to 5, 6, or more GB. Why.... There are waste Storage and you can only use by Apps! If you are satisfied with 2.5-4GB, you can use the Rest by SDCard2/ SDext (not your removable SDCard) to store more Documents/ Music/ Movies etc. I think, you found the right answer!
Start EBRTweak and select your Size. Please remember, your Size from Userdata is included. EBRTweak create for you the new EBR-Files.
Example: Your Userdata is 1GB. We increase the new Size to 2.5GB. Then the Userdata have 2.5GB. 1GB before plus 1.5GB from Fat-Partition = 2.5GB = A0000000 Hex Address!
Rename your EBR1.bak & EBR2.bak to EBR1_org/ EBR2_Org. Rename your Scatterxxx.txt to Scatterxxx_Org.txt.
Next open the Notepad++ and load your Original Scatter. Open Windows Calculator in Hex-Mode and add to your usrdata Address the new Address (38380000+A0000000=D8380000). Look at the userdata bzw. FAT Entry. Change only the FAT-Entry to the new Adress and save it.
Please proof it - be sure you have the correct new Address.
Enclosed you will found the Addresses to change.
change Scatter Address
Size: Hex-Address Decimal-Address
1,5GB 60000000 1.610.612.736
2,0GB 80000000 2.147.483.648
2,5GB A0000000 2.684.354.560
3,0GB C0000000 3.221.225.472
3,5GB E0000000 3.758.096.384
4,0GB 100000000 4.294.967.296
If you are finished, save the new Scatter to Scatterxxx_2_5.txt and copy the new EBR1 & 2 and the changed Scatter in your "!Files_to_FlashTools" Folder. Rename it to EBR1_2_5/ EBR2_2_5.
If you have newer Processor (MT 659x) or you have created your Backup with MTK v.2.53, than you have the newer Scatter-File, So, you have to add the new Size to Linear and also to Physical Address. The changed Linear & Physical-Addresses must be replaced in Fat-Partition.
Tipp: You can try the calculating with your Original Scatter. The most have Hex 40000000 = 1GB. Also add this to your Linear - and then to your Physical Address. The correct Result you see under Fat-Section!
For the Partition-Size on Fat-Partition you can use 0x0 as Size.
If you unsure with the Address-Calculation send me your Scatter as zip/rar as PM. I proof it and make if necessary, the Changes for you. Don't forget to tell me your new Size.
If you have done, you can go back to other Post for Flash!
