@marcel: I think Coolpad sold in many online retailers, just dig a bit harder.
Sorry, I been a bit busy lately. I start a new business with friends from my graduate class. I will spare a minute or two regarding the proximity sensor this afternoon. Newer android model tend to have modified directory structure.
About root, I also found that root on coolpad f1 did not stick after reboot using vroot apk. But this was fixed bybusing vroot from pc.
I also got newman k1s and THL t11 and find:
- Newman camera is not that good, it was advertised to have sony exmore rs sensor but I found flickers when taking picture esp. In low light condition. I think either it has smaller lens or just a firmware issues.
- Overall build quality is good on newmann, but the power button stuck. The problem is that it has an anti slip material added on the back cover and it was stick further around the power button cutout. The fix was wasy, just remove the excess material there. Some compromise was cleary made, it was a dirty cheap octacore with 2gb of ram and 16gb rom to begin with.
- Newer THL t11 seems to have TRUE 13mp camera, the 8mp written near the camera changed to 13mp. (I will post the pic here later)
Similar to the recent batch on w200s, thl seems to improve their phone specs without changing the advertised specs. I respect THL with this improvement, but I don't think it wise to upgrade their product line but keep silent about it. And yes, THL t11 is a well build phone.
