Just done this for my HDC Note 3 (MTK6582) and it worked like a treat, very easy.
Thanks

Ok, I downloaded CTRv2.2.7z, extracted it, So from first look this just unpacks the stock recovery.img adds CWM recovery binary and other cwm recovery files, repacks recovery then flashes via flash_image? which if that's correctly will help out greatly for us Linux people who don't want to use windows or windows tools.
Now I saw nothing that compiled a recovery, the package contains several precompiled recoveries, in /bin/res which the binary would be used to the replace stock binary, depending on display size.
These are ext4 recoveries, I don't know at this point what filesystem my phones will use, wont know til they get here, They are in NY right now according to tracking, so a couple more days.
If you use my scripts or work in your own scripts, your scripts or license should reflect that.

This tool CTR does essentially what you said.
I will post a couple unpack tools later today. They should be useable in Linux.
The phone are likely EXT4 unless u order some mt6572. Some of mt6572 are ubifs.

I have been using MTK-Tools by Bruno Martins, they work well on Linux, I am just waiting for USPS to bring me my phones, so I can test on them. I have downloaded several boot.img and recovery.img postd on forums from MTK devices, to make sure the scripts work and they do work, I just don't have my own MTK device it is in NY while I am waiting in WV on USPS, LOL.
