Also, Macrules, welcome to the forum. I know a bit of a rough start, but we are always glad to have new, knowledgeable members.
Thanks for the welcome.
I have not had time to try to make a new recovery.
The old unpack tools don't work on the ROM dump and since the checksum files are not proper, who knows what crap is in there.
I found some other tools that needed compiling and I had no time to do that.
Did anyone else try to unpack the recovery/boot img?
A general indication of the battery life. It's my backup but since I use both phones (Zenfone 2) depending on circumstances this thing is a battery beast. It may not be for everyone but it's smooth as anything out there. Really smooth. I've done the drop and water tests with zero issues. Highly recommended.
P.S. The lack of notification indicator is a bit of a pain but acceptable.
Another Gsam. My talk time is only 3 minutes or so because I use wifi calling apps more on this phone than the Zenfone. Nonetheless 11 hours sot with plenty of juice left is impressive. Very happy with this device so far.

Looks like got another 2 hours or so onscreen time to go. That's excellent.
Look at needrom to have root, TWRP and anything else. I attached a zip there from another forum that gives root. The TWRP attached there worked for me too.
For Xposed, use the 32 bit sdk22 arm zip and flash it.
Xprivacy works too, so I am happy with that.
I found the micro USB to be not interchangable with other cables because it is so long, so another minus there (next to mine not being waterproof).
Anyway, it works and software wise I have pretty much what I want, so I am happy for the money.
Does anyone know where that internal browser stores downloads?
And why does Chrome show the tabs in a list and not visually?
cheers

My THL and Lenovo usb cables fit this phone. I also took it snorkeling last week without any issues so there's clearly an issue with your phone.

How fast does the phone charge?
My Oinom LMV9 takes 8-10 hours to fully charge 4500mAh battery. I [Only registered and activated users can see links Click here to register] usb current and it draws only 0.5A max regardless of charger.

About 5 hours on my Asus fast charger. 8 hours on a normal charger.
