Upside down screen and only half visible: Goophone S6

Hi So i found a Rom on Need roms and it was a 5.0 Lollipop rom, my goophone s6 was running on KitKat and i thought I'd try update it as it fit the criteria for the rom. after flashing the rom I found that half of my screen was black and everything was upside down and backwards. the only buttons that worked we're the power button and the volume key. The touch screen, capasative and home button doesn't work. I really just want to know what happened!!

I just looked on NeedROM and don't see a Lollipop ROM for a Goophone S6 (or an S5 for that matter). Sounds to me like you flashed a ROM that wasn't for your phone. Do you have an appropriate backup?

Hi I don't have a backup and the rom was for a HDC S6 although it was the same spec as mine and identical.

What are the specs on your phone?
The first the a Google search pulled up was this:

Immediately I noticed that the display resolution is different from the ROM. The ROM you posted shows a display of 1080, whereas this site says your phone is 720.

I'd begin scouring the net for a clean backup of your phone. Contact your seller and manufacturer.

In the meantime, you should continue looking for a similar ROM that *at an absolute minimum* has the same processor and same display.

thanks for the reply, im such an idiot i didnt notice the resolution, is there a way to edit the roms resolution ?

I don't cook ROMs so I'm not the expert on this. My understanding is that you likely have the wrong display driver altogether.

okay because from what I can understand thats the only problem It boots fine I can even see the battery status but its just the screen. Would you might know anyone who might be able to change the resolution ?

Sorry to say this but your best chance is to find a clean MTK backup for your phone from another SAME device (goophone S6). I googled and it shows there are diffent S6 - lite, elite annd pro?. Which one is yours?

Besides resolution and chipsets there are many other things that can be different from devices. For instance, lets say your device has an MT6572 chipset, another device's rom with MT6572 chipset, same resolution, same android version etc might not be safe to flash since the partition mapping differs on different devices. You have to take a thorough look at the scatter.txt (can be found in every mtk backups) for the mapping, file types, start address and size of the partition of each images.
