[Review] iNew V3A MTK 6592 - AnTuTu Benchmark
#11
(2014-11-25, 13:51)Bacon_Puffs Wrote: I agree with you, but this is fairly standard. 5 hours onscreen doing normal stuff.

If you need 5 hours gaming, definitely need some big battery phone or keep an extra battery charged. Just a guess... Should get 2-3 hours 3d gaming.

He's reviewing MPIE G7 now. That supposedly has a 3000mA battery but not sure I believe it.

I think it's time someone came up with a battery with even higher energy density than Lithium-ion. I don't understand how smartphone tech is improving every day but nobody is willing to spend some big bucks to find a replacement for li-ion batteries. I checked the MPIE G7 specs review - it looks like a good phone but I wouldn't rush to the store for a previous generation SoC.

The reviewer should take some more time to talk about his real world usage experience of the phone and not too much about the specs - we can find the specs anywhere but what we really want to know is how it feels like to actually use the phone. I know he can get a review version of any Chinese phone. Too bad he only concentrates on the specifications.

BTW, MPIE G7 is quoted as having a 2200 mAh battery.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. The review is not up yet. That is only the specif. preview. Nobody is suggesting you rush out to buy that phone. The previews are generally written to assess how the phone looks and compares to current models, but I think his intent is more to *to introduce the model* to the readers. For some this might be their first smart phone, and many people don't even know which models are being released.

The review he said will come this week. How is the LCD, how is the battery life, are apps force closing, is the OS smooth to use, benchmarking scores, build quality, frequency support, style, speaker quality and loudness, mic, earpiece... these things. At least, that's what his other reviews usually cover. I guess this will be similar.

Oh, okay. I guess I judged the review too early - I should have waited for it to be done. The reviews by Gizbeat are usually quite good.

About the G7, I think the company could have done better than mtk6582 but I'm a power user - that's why I said I wouldn't go for it. I'm sure the phone is perfect for most people.

quick question. how'd you get a 26K+ Antutu on a 1.4 Ghz MT6592 ? i thought that's the base score for the 1.7Ghz.

I've had the V3plus for about 2 weeks now and using Antutu V5, i only get around 20K.

I compared scores. and my CPU Scores are Approx 40% lower than the review post. GPU is spot on. already turned off the limiter from the Battery settings. i'd really like to have that extra 40% ;-)

It's not possible to get higher performance from the CPU when it's clocked at 1.4 GHz. It would be possible if you used a custom kernel and overclocked the CPU to the usual 1.7 GHz but at a huge cost to battery life. I also doubt if you can get custom kernels for this phone.

Bottom line is that you can only get about 20K points on AnTuTu with the V3 plus configuration. The model that got the scores on the screenshots must have been a pre-production model - those are usually configured differently than retail models. Note that the device on the screenshot is CXQ V3A but retail versions are shown as V3 octa-core in AnTuTu. I have a hunch that the phone in the screenshots had different a kernel/firmware hence the similar performance to the full MT6592.

I would agree, however, the screenshots also show his CPU speed. 728-1365.

The firmware though IS different. The review unit is a V01 firmware. I have the V06.

Because this phone's battery is only 1850 mAh, I wouldn't encourage you to try to squeeze more performance from it. Theoretically, the SoC can perform so much better but what about battery life??

Actually I wanted to buy this phone but now I'll go for the Elephone p3000s.

I don't know why battery in V3Plus is that small Sad.

hi, I got this phone three days ago. I am very satisfied. I feared most for the battery, but it's not as bad as talking. I do not play games but wi fi is running all the time, GPS, calls, messages and battery hold all day. phone does not support NFC.

You must be very excited to have a swanky new phone to play with - I'm happy for you. I would advise you to buy a power bank before the battery life becomes a bother.

Your phone has a very capable SoC - once you start using power-hungry apps more often, you will realize how short a time the new battery can actually last.
