Well hit a huge setback, the touch screen has failed. Well part of it has, so I'm going to need to send the phone back for a warranty replacement. Going to try and finish a beta rooted build before then however using tools to control the phone via PC.
Again, watch this space

General Observation for Mt6582 is to use VROOT it should successfully root it then install SuperSU (you need TitaniumBackup to backup and freeze the Chinese superuser dont uninstall) after reboot after restoring from Titanium rerun SuperSU and update the su binaries.
Happy trying.

According to root checker rooting worked fine. I used app quarantine to get rid of the chinese superuser app (titanium backup needs to be pro for that). I'm currently updating the su binaries.
/EDIT: either I'm doing something wrong, or it isn't a "real" root. SuperSU binary update fails. any hints?
