hi mgz7281! i dont know if this method is already posted in this forum but here's a step by step tutorial i made and i think this might help you with your problem.
i tried to write this tut as completely as i know based from my experience fixing my own device. so please be aware if you think i missed a step or something. (admin and mods please edit and review my post if my tut is missing a step thanks!)
WARNING!!! BEFORE doing anything else be sure to write down your phone's IMEI on a piece of paper you will need it later.
to find your phone's IMEI just remove the battery and look for IMEI on the sticker at the back of your phone if it doesn't have one power on your device then go to your keypad menu and enter #*06#.
here it goes....
steps i did with my Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 clone (MTK6589)
1) restored it back to factory defaults by pressing volume up+power button (restoring to factory defaults unrooted my
device but you can root it again after a successful factory restoration)
2) a new menu will then appear with 3 options but it is inverted (just flip your phone samsung logo facing down LoL!)
navigate to recovery menu using volume up key then select it by pressing the volume down key.
3) android logo with red exclamation will then appear with the recovery menu.
(press power or home button if android logo appears just by itself to reveal the recovery menu)
4) navigate to clear cache by pressing the volume down key and select it using the volume up key.
5) after clearing the cache navigate to restore factory defaults option and select it, a confirmation menu will then
appear choose Yes.
6) after the restoration is complete you will go back to the recovery main menu select clear cache. (yes i cleared the cache again after factory restore
)
7) after that navigate to Reboot System now to reboot normally.
Note:
>>> after the restoration some devices shows Mediatek logo instead of the
Samsung Galaxy S4 logo on startup. dont panic you can fix it after your
phone's normal startup.
1) to change your boot logo go to the phone keypad menu and key in
#*#94#*#
(that's the code for my MTK6589 device. try it and see if your device reboots changes boot logo back to SAMSUNG
GALAXY S4, if it doesn't try another code. just search this forum for bootscreen logo codes or google it.)
2) in some cases after restoration your phone shows invalid IMEI and refuses to get any signal.
you can fix it by entering your phones Engineer Mode to edit your IMEI (you can find your IMEI at the back of
phone just remove the battery and write it down). to do this enter this code
*#*#3646633#*#* on your phones
keypad menu.
3) now your on Engineer Mode go to
GPRS and key in the
IMEI you got at the back of your device at
1st PDP then click
Attached then click
Detached and
reboot your device by pressing the power switch then click reboot.
(NOTE: this only works on devices with MTK chips. be sure to check your hardware 1st . try using Antutu
Bechmark's built in device manager to check for installed hardware)
4) sometimes after the reboot invalid IMEI still shows, just leave your device for a couple of minutes with the sim card
installed then try to send a text message or call another number.
Invalid IMEI Message will change to your Mobile
Network Carrier's name and your phone will start to get the network signal back .
you can root your phone using the method you are familiar with (i used
Graphical_Easy_MTK6589_MTK6577_MTK6575 to root my MTK6589 S4).
after
rooting and rebooting your device just follow this steps:
> install
SuperSU or
Superuser from Playstore
> install
Titanium backup from Playstore
> using Titanium backup
uninstall king.apk
> reboot your device
Hooray! you have succesfully restored, changed your boot logo back to Samsung Galaxy S4, Fixed Invalid IMEI and rooted your device with Root Dialogs now showing in ENGLISH instead of CHINESE.
hope this helped you resolve your problem.....
